LFB: Property taxes to increase under Evers’ budget

The property taxes on the mythical median-valued Wisconsin home would go up $56 in the first year of Gov. Tony Evers' budget and $48 in the second year, according to a new Legislative Fiscal Bureau memo.
But that projected increase would be smaller than what homeowners would expect to see under current law, the analysis found.
A spokeswoman for Evers noted voters have approved referendums increasing their property taxes by more than $2 billion since 2018, but where the guv "does have the ability to make a difference, his budget is making responsible choices to protect taxpayers."
