On October 19th and 20th, NextGen Wisconsin will be organizing students and community members at UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee and surrounding communities to pledge them to vote in the April 2020 presidential primary and ensure they have the information they need to register to vote. NextGen Wisconsin will be leaning into the fall theme of Octoberfest by providing ginger beer and root beer tastings on campus while teaching young people how to participate in the primary process.

“Knocktoberfest is a great opportunity to engage with young people on campus and make sure our students here in Wisconsin know how to register to vote in a state that has more hurdles than most to get registered,” NextGen Wisconsin State Director Hannah Marcus said.”In order to flip Wisconsin blue, we know we need to register more young people now who can power progressive victories across the state and ensure that Trump is a one-term president.”

NextGen Wisconsin has been hard at work in 2019 building on a successful 2018 program that collected 50,869 pledges to vote, sent 528,781 text messages, and knocked on 178,477 doors to mobilize young people to vote in the midterm elections. Young Wisconsinites voted overwhelmingly to remove Scott Walker from the governor’s office and elect progressive champion Tony Evers. NextGen Wisconsin remains committed to organizing young people on college campuses and in communities to vote and flip the state blue in November 2020.
