MADISON – Sen. Jon Erpenbach and Rep. Daniel Riemer today unveiled a bill to invest in the health of Wisconsinites by expanding Medicaid. This bill would extend affordable health care coverage to an additional 82,000 people in Wisconsin.

Statement from Mike Murray, Executive Director of Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin:

“Medicaid expansion means more affordable and accessible health care for the people of Wisconsin. Voters chose Gov. Evers in November because they wanted more access to health care. This bill would make that a reality.

“Expanding Medicaid helps women and families in our state by improving health outcomes for babies and moms. Expanding Medicaid would also free up resources for the state to invest in important programs that will help reduce health disparities, many of which were included in the Governor’s proposed budget. That’s why 70 percent of Wisconsinites support expanding Medicaid. We applaud Sen. Erpenbach and Rep. Riemer for taking action and announcing this bill today to prioritize the health care of Wisconsinites.”
