MADISON…Representative Tyler August (R-Lake Geneva) released the following statement in reaction to Governor Tony Evers first State of the State address, which was delivered on Tuesday:
“After eight years of reforms under Republican leadership, the state of the state is strong. Our economy is healthy with record low unemployment rates and our state budget is producing surpluses. Now is not the time to reverse course.
The Assembly has already been busy to ensure our state remains on the right track. Just this week, we passed legislation guaranteeing health care for those with pre-existing conditions. We also proposed a Middle Class Tax Cut, which would return the budget surplus to the taxpayers without raising taxes unnecessarily.
I call on Governor Evers to support both of these common sense proposals. I will continue to fight to ensure our families’ and taxpayers’ voices are heard in Madison.”
