Join the Wisconsin Historical Society, the 19th Amendment Centennial Celebration Committee and the women of the 104th Legislature for a celebration at the Capitol on June 10, 2019

Madison…State Representative Joan Ballweg (R-Markesan) will join the women of the 104th Legislative Session in holding a reception on June 10, 2019 following the unveiling of Wisconsin’s original 19th Amendment document. Wisconsin was the first state in the nation to ratify the 19th Amendment and this document will only be on display for one day.

“Wisconsin played an important role in the nation’s women suffrage movement, and I am proud to have introduced a joint resolution this session to honor and commemorate this historic milestone,” said Ballweg.

Starting at noon on June 10, 2019 in the rotunda of the State Capitol, guests are invited to hear from the Chair of Wisconsin’s 19th Amendment Centennial Commission, First Lady Kathy Evers, the Executive Director of the National Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission, Rebecca Kleefisch and the Honorable Justice Ann Walsh Bradley. Other events held throughout the day include a photo-op with the Forward Statue, live action suffragists and viewing of historical artifacts.
