Madison…State Representative Joan Ballweg (R-Markesan) presented Detective Shawn Posewitz of the Lake Delton Police Department the 2019 First Responder of the Year Award for the 41st Assembly District on October 10th.
Detective Shawn Posewitz was nominated by his superiors for his tenacity and dedication to keeping his community safe. He was instrumental in solving a recent case of attempted child abduction which he was assigned as a case agent. In addition to his service as detective, Detective Posewitz is a crime scene evidence technician and instructor in firearms tactics and active shooter response.
“First responders are often silent heroes in our communities. Their long and unpredictable hours continue to make the 41st Assembly District a safe place to live, work and play,” said Ballweg. “Thank you, Detective Posewitz, for your long and successful career in law enforcement.”
The First Responder of the Year Award is presented in conjunction with First Responders Appreciation Month. Recipients are chosen based on a variety of criteria including significant personal achievement, length of service, community involvement, heroic action and more. This is the first year the Assembly is recognizing first responders from all 99 Assembly Districts for their service and sacrifice.
