Madison…State Representative Joan Ballweg (R-Markesan) released the following statement following Governor Evers’ State of the State address:
“Over the past eight years of Republican leadership, Wisconsin has worked to accumulate the largest rainy day fund in state history, lowest tax burden in nearly 50 years and kept the unemployment rate under three percent for the 11th straight month. The state of our state is strong and I look forward to finding common ground to continue our state’s progress.
“Earlier this month, I joined my legislative colleagues in sending a letter to Governor Evers outlining 11 areas where we could continue to work collaboratively. Wisconsinites may have chosen divided government, but they did not choose inaction. Already the Assembly has taken steps towards moving two of those items forward: proposing a middle-class tax cut and passing a bill protecting pre-existing conditions in Wisconsin with bi-partisan support.
“I am proud of the investments we have made in the state these past eight years and look forward to hearing from constituents on their view of Governor Evers’ address.”
