Madison –Today, Rep. Dave Considine (D-Baraboo) introduced legislation that would designate a portion of State Highway 33 as the Staff Sergeant (SSG) Daniel D. Busch Memorial Highway. SSG Busch was a constituent of the 81stDistrict who gave his life in service to his country.

“Staff Sergeant Daniel Busch was a hero to his team members while serving in Mogadishu, but he is also a hero to our community, state, and country,” said Rep. Considine. “Naming this portion of highway is just one way that we can commemorate his heroism.

“We do not do enough to honor veterans and recognize their service,” said Rep. Considine. “That is why I am proud to introduce this legislation to help honor SSG Busch’s actions and the ultimate sacrifice he made. On October 3rd, 1993, SSG Busch exhibited tremendous character when he held off enemy forces in order to ensure the survival of his fellow team members. During that heroism SSG Busch sustained his fatal wound, sacrificing everything for his team and country.

“While SSG Busch left behind a wife and infant child, he also left a legacy of character, integrity, and service. Family and friends are raising money to pay for the markers and maintenance associated with the highway naming. As a Representative and a member of the community, I am honored to introduce this bill to help memorialize SSG Busch.
