MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Democratic Legislative Caucus issued the following statement in regards to the announcement that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) has chosen Milwaukee to host its 2020 national convention.

“We are extremely excited for the City of Milwaukee to have the opportunity to host the DNC in 2020, and we want to thank everyone who helped to make this idea a reality. This marks the first time that Wisconsin has hosted the DNC and is also the first time in over 20 years that the convention will be hosted by a Midwestern city. The national spotlight will shine not only on Milwaukee but the entire State of Wisconsin.

“The economic impact that this convention will create will benefit a multitude of local businesses and organizations throughout the Milwaukee area. With approximately 50,000 visitors expected and 1,500 events, it is estimated that the convention will have over a $200 million impact on the region. That is great for Milwaukee and great for Wisconsin.

“We thank the DNC for allowing us to showcase our city and everything that we stand for. Milwaukee represents every aspect of Wisconsinites and of Midwestern life. Hard working, innovative, passionate working class Americans with strong family and community values. This announcement only further underscores the work being done to revitalize Wisconsin’s first-class city and ensure Milwaukee and Wisconsin continue to rise.”

The convention is scheduled for July 13-16, 2020, with the Milwaukee Bucks new Fiserv Forum serving as the convention location.
