Madison, WI –Representative Cindi Duchow (R-Town of Delafield) demonstrated her support for businesses in Wisconsin by voting to close a loophole that’s been allowing companies moving out of the state (or country) to receive a tax break for relocating.

Assembly Bill 10 which removes a potential incentive for businesses leaving Wisconsin was passed by the Wisconsin State Assembly with overwhelming approval during its floor session on Tuesday.

“This common-sense reform will protect Wisconsin taxpayers and make our state more competitive,” said Representative Duchow (R-Town of Delafield). “By eliminating a loophole that allows businesses leaving our state to deduct their moving expenses, these additional tax dollars can go towards initiatives that help Wisconsin’s residents. It is important we reserve these tax break incentives for businesses dedicated to job growth and supporting the economy here in Wisconsin.”

The Assembly voted unanimously today to pass the measure and now it heads to the Senate for consideration. AB-10 passed unanimously in the Committee on Federalism and Interstate Relations with a vote of 6-0.

Rep. Duchow represents the 99th Assembly District, which includes the communities of Chenequa, Delafield, Dousman, Hartland, Merton, Nashotah, Oconomowoc Lake, Ottawa, and Wales; and portions of Genesee, North Prairie, Oconomowoc, and Summit.
