Representative Cindi Duchow
(608) 266-3007
Madison, WI –State Representative Cindi Duchow (R-Delafield) issued the following statement after voting to protect Wisconsinites with pre-existing conditions:
“As someone who has a child living with a pre-existing condition, I know and understand how important this is. Being able to share my story and hear from my colleagues was incredibly impactful. It is a testament to why I am committed to ensuring everyone has access to healthcare, regardless of a prior health condition. It is important to me that our loved ones are covered.”
Rep. Duchow joined her Assembly colleagues in session today taking up Assembly Bill 1, which provides protection for those with pre-existing conditions in Wisconsin. Specifically, AB-1 seeks to prevent insurance companies from: denying policy coverage to someone with a pre-existing condition, refusing to cover services one may need to cover a pre-existing condition, and prevents insurance companies from charging a higher premium based on a person’s health status.
“Today I voted in favor of protecting pre-existing conditions and in favor of eliminating life-time caps. With one in six people living with a pre-existing condition, it is important to me that Wisconsin’s families are covered.”
