Madison, WI –Rep. Mary Felzkowski (R-Irma) joined Merrill Area Public Schools and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) for the announcement of a Fab Lab grant and the official ribbon cutting ceremony of the Fab Lab (fabrication laboratory) expansion at Merrill High:
“I am thrilled to see that Merrill High School has been awarded a grant to fund the expansion of their Fab Lab. The Fab Lab here has had remarkable success: creating incredible high-tech design products, transforming the learning process into an interactive hands-on environment, and fostering a sense of confidence and can-do attitude in the students who participate.”
Merrill Area Public Schools was awarded $24,761 by WEDC. The money will be used to expand the high school’s Fab Lab, providing more equipment and technology to create enhanced opportunities for the students. Twenty school districts across the state were awarded over $500,000 to create or expand Fab Labs.
“Wisconsin remains a nationwide leader in Fab Labs, and I am proud to have championed this concept. I truly believe the investment communities and local businesses make in Fab Labs are returned ten times over.”
Representative Felzkowski and Merrill Fab Lab Director Josh Zalewski recently recorded an episode for The Right Angle podcast where they discussed the benefits of Fab Labs to students and local businesses, and shared success stories from students across Wisconsin.
