I would like to express my deepest sympathies to the victims and the families who were affected by the senseless acts of gun violence over the weekend in Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas.

It has long been clear we put measures in place to stop senseless massacres. I have and will continue to support sensible gun control laws that will ensure public safety while upholding the Constitution. Among other things, I have sought to reinstate the 48-hour waiting period and deny gun access to those convicted of violent domestic assault.

Doing nothing is simply not an option. We have seen far too many tragedies recently, and they will continue to happen if no action is taken. We must come together to prevent this from ever happening again.
