Platteville, WI—Yesterday during a stop at UW-Platteville, Rep. Ron Kind rolled out his Higher Education Action Plan. Rep Kind’s plan takes a common-sense approach to lower costs and expand access to the classroom for Wisconsin students.

“With Wisconsin’s Third Congressional District being home to fourteen colleges and universities, I’ve seen firsthand the impact that today’s higher education costs and student loan debt crisis have had on our students, local businesses, and economy. Wisconsin graduates are entering the job market with an average of $28,000 in debt and instead of investing in local businesses and planning for their future, they are paying off their loans—often at a high-interest rate,” said Rep. Ron Kind. “Investing in higher education and helping more students pay for college is one of the smartest decisions we can make as a nation. This action plan is a commonsense approach that does that.”

Rep. Kind’s Higher Education Action Plan focuses on the following four areas:

  • Increase Affordability
  • Expand Opportunity & Access
  • Improve Transparency
  • Support Workforce Development
