Madison- Tonight, Governor Tony Evers delivered is biennial budget address before the legislature. Rep. Amy Loudenbeck (R-Clinton) issued the following statement regarding his address:

“Wisconsin’s fiscal condition is strong thanks to eight years of sound budgeting and a robust economy. We have the ability to invest in priorities like education and transportation without raising sales or income taxes. My goal is to ultimately pass a budget that is fiscally responsible, rewards personal responsibility, and most importantly, does not grow government. Governor Evers proposed many program and policy items tonight that do not meet those standards. I believe there will be some areas of agreement, but expect there will also be intense debate and deliberation over the next several months.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues and our legislative service agencies to scrutinize the dollars and the details in the Governor’s proposed spending plan so the final package provides the best possible investment for Wisconsin families.”
