MADISON – The following is a statement from State Representative Tip McGuire on the partial veto of the state budget by Gov. Evers:

“I support many of the changes that Governor Evers made to the state budget, particularly the nearly $100 million additional investment in our education system, showing yet again our deep commitment to Wisconsin students and teachers. The governor signed this budget today with the understanding that we are still far from where we need to be, and there is more work for us to do.

I hope that my colleagues across the aisle see that this governor is willing to work together to get things done. We still can still do what is right for Wisconsin – expand healthcare coverage and close the Dark Store loophole to lower the tax burden on middle class families – if we can come together and seize those opportunities.”
