MADISON – State Representative Jessie Rodriguez, R-Oak Creek, joined her Assembly colleagues voting to approve Assembly Bill 1, legislation that protects individuals with a pre-existing condition from being denied insurance coverage. The bill received bipartisan support in the Assembly.

“I’m proud that we took the initiative today, to say to our constituents that access to health insurance coverage is important and we will follow through on our promise to protect our friends and neighbors in our communities to make sure they are protected,” said Rodriguez.

The final bill included changes requested by Gov. Evers that eliminates annual and lifetime caps for healthcare coverage.

“Gov. Evers asked Assembly Republicans to make changes that will make the bill stronger and we did that. I’m proud we were able to work towards a bipartisan solution to help our constituents and I hope the governor will sign this bill into law.”
