Madison—Representative David Steffen (R-Howard) issued the following statement after Governor Evers’ 2019 State of the State address last night:
“The state of our state is strong. Today we have a record number of people employed in Wisconsin, we have a historically low unemployment rate, and we ended last year with a budget surplus. The pro-growth reforms that were put in place under Republican leadership have set our state up for future success.
“Despite the divisive tone of last night’s speech, I remain hopeful that Governor Evers will work with us on common sense, bi-partisan legislation. That is why I call on Governor Evers to fulfill one of his campaign promises and support our middle class tax cut that will benefit hard-working Wisconsin families, without harming farmers or small businesses. I look forward to continuing my work in the Assembly on passing legislation that will further advance the economy and protect the taxpayers of the 4th Assembly District.”
