Madison—Today Representative David Steffen (R-Howard) voted to guarantee access to insurance for individuals with pre-existing conditions.
“Ensuring that my constituents with pre-existing conditions have access to affordable health insurance was a top priority for me,” said Rep. Steffen. “I am happy that this was the first bill that we took up this session as it is of utmost importance.”
Assembly Bill 1 passed in the Wisconsin State Assembly with bipartisan support and ensures insurance coverage for pre-existing conditions. It would also prohibit annual or lifetime caps on coverage.
“It is very encouraging that this bill was supported by both Republicans and Democrats,” continued Rep. Steffen. “This is a great example of how we can work together during divided government and I am looking forward to sending this bill to Governor Evers’ desk.”
