MADISON – Assembly Majority Leader Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna) released the following statement following the Joint Finance Committee’s vote to set aside $3.25 million to combat homelessness in Wisconsin:
“I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to the Joint Finance Committee – on behalf of myself, my Republican colleagues who are invested in this issue, and the thousands of homeless people across our state – for their commitment to ending homelessness here in Wisconsin. Prioritizing these initiatives will help ensure everyone has a safe place to call home and create positive, lasting effects in every corner of our state.
“With this support, we will continue taking the legislative steps necessary to implement the comprehensive plan from the Interagency Council on Homelessness. I look forward to bringing these bills to the Assembly floor in the coming weeks and delivering them to Governor Evers’ desk.”
