MADISON— Today Representative Chris Taylor (D-Madison) joined fellow Legislative Democrats and community advocates as they unveiled the “Forward on Climate” bill package, which aims to address the climate crisis facing our state and world. The four bills in the package reduce Wisconsin’s reliance on fossil fuels and build a state economy that is more resilient, sustainable and just.

Rep. Taylor issued the following statement:

“The climate crisis has already impacted all Wisconsinites with record-breaking flooding in my community and communities across the state, but the impacts continue to hit the hardest on low-income people and people of color. As policymakers, we must act, and we must act in a way that fosters a brighter, more sustainable future for our children, who are forced to live with the consequences of our actions. These four bills are instrumental in supporting our farmers, creating good jobs, investing in our kids and our schools, and reducing inequality across our state. With these bills, we can finally move in a positive direction on this issue, something the majority of people in our state want. Too many of our politicians are siding with the fossil fuel industry instead of our children’s future, and it’s time for us to take action and begin the transition to 100% carbon-free energy.”
