Pre-existing condition protections included in first bill passed by Assembly

Madison: Today State Rep. Paul Tittl (R-Manitowoc) joined with his Assembly colleagues to protect individuals with pre-existing conditions. The Assembly passed Assembly Bill 1 by a vote of 76-19. Rep. Tittl issued the following statement detailing why the legislation is important:

“Everyone knows someone with a pre-existing condition. I battle with my own health issues, as do members of my family. It is unimaginable that people, some of whom are desperate for care, would be turned away or denied insurance because of their health history. As was evidenced by this vote, my colleagues and I on both sides of the aisle are dedicated to ensuring everyone in Wisconsin has reasonable protections and access to quality healthcare.”

The bill passed out of the Assembly Committee on Health with bipartisan support by a vote of 12-3 on Jan. 17.
