MADISON – Representative Paul Tittl (R-Manitowoc) joined the Assembly passing the new budget.

This budget invests the largest amount of real dollars into our K-12 schools, a $650 million dollar increase, keeps in place the UW System tuition freeze, doubles the current Rainy Day Fund to $616 million, and funds the repairs we need to fix our roads by providing a 10% increase in general transportation aids, just as the Governor requested. It also includes $90 million in funding for the Local Road Improvement Program, tripling what we currently spend. This budget also funds our state’s healthcare needs without expanding Medicaid.

Rep. Tittl offered the following comments:

I am pleased to cast my vote alongside my colleagues in the Assembly in support of a budget that works for all Wisconsin residents. This is why we named it a budget for all of Wisconsin, because it’s a budget that works for all of us.

This budget aims to shield Wisconsin families from an increasing tax burden, while investing records amount of funds for our K-12 schools, including increasing funding by $604 per student over two years. Our children’s education and future has been a top priority throughout this entire process.

As chair of the mental health committee, I am also pleased the budget increases funding for numerous mental health programs. It doubles current funding for mental health services in our schools, allowing students who need help to more easily receive care where they’re at.

Many of my constituents asked that we keep spending under control in order to lower the tax burden. This budget for all of Wisconsin does exactly that. I hope Governor Evers signs it.

The budget bill now moves to the state Senate for a vote before heading to the governor’s desk.
