Lisa Neubauer officially concedes as Judge Hagedorn holds 6,000 vote lead to become the next Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice

WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 10, 2019) – Last Tuesday’s stunning victory by conservative Judge Brian Hagedorn became official Wednesday morning after his opponent called him to concede after his margin of victory grew to over 6,000 votes following an initial canvass of election results.

“Wisconsin – Wisconsin – Wisconsin! The election of Judge Brian Hagedorn has rocked American politics in the last week, with conservatives uniting and rejecting the Obama-Holder backed liberal, activist judge that would have helped radical Democrat’s new frontier that is seeping into court races across the nation,” said Matt Walter, President of the Republican State Leadership Committee.  “Last week’s victory also saw conservatives, again, overcoming a smear campaign by the left, similar to what we saw in the confirmation process of Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and Wisconsin voters said, ‘Enough is enough’,” Walter added.

Judge Hagedorn’s victory came after a $1.3 million statewide independent expenditure campaign from the RSLC’s Judicial Fairness Initiative which included digital, mail, broadcast, cable and radio. The campaign for Hagedorn’s opponent, along with Democrat-aligned groups, spent over $3.5 million on TV alone in their failed efforts.

Democrats have spent the last week pointing fingers and wondering why their message of radical socialism and judicial activism has again been rejected.  Even the progressive Daily Kos’s Carolyn Fiddler noted on April 4, “By the by, Democrats have no party-backed answer to the RSLC arm focused on judicial elections.”

The efforts and strategy by the RSLC have been receiving praise from across the Badger State and in the nation.  As stated in Friday’s Wispolitics Report, “Wisconsin-based conservative groups also pitched in, and the Republican State Leadership Committee came in with a late $1.2 million that went on TV, digital, mail and text messages. Insiders wondered when the buy was first announced if it would be big enough or on the air long enough to burn in. That was particularly true with Greater Wisconsin putting more than $2.4 million on TV. Turns out, that buy came in just at the right time to help capture that grassroots energy that had been percolating, insiders say.”

Described by NBC News as “a test run” for the 2020 presidential campaign, viewers can now see the overall impact of the investment by the Republican State Leadership Committee’s Judicial Fairness Initiative in a new video released today.

About JFI

The RSLC’s Judicial Fairness Initiative (JFI), launched in 2014, works to elect down-ballot, state-level conservatives to the judiciary.  Through JFI, the RSLC became the only national political organization focused exclusively on the electoral process of judicial branches at the state level.  Too often voters are starved of information about judicial candidates up for election and forced to vote completely in the dark.  To address this critically important need, JFI provides the public with a balanced flow of relevant information to make educated decisions and support common sense conservative judges at the state level.

About the RSLC

The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) is the largest caucus of Republican state leaders in the country and the only national organization whose mission is to elect Republicans to multiple down-ballot, state-level offices. Since 2002, the RSLC has been working to elect candidates to the offices of lieutenant governor, secretary of state, state legislator, the judiciary and other down-ticket races. State-level Republicans maintain 61 of 99 legislative chamber majorities across the country, hold 25 lieutenant governor seats, and control 28 secretaries of state offices.
