Marklein Statement on Signing of the State Budget
Madison, WI – Senator Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green) made the following statement following Governor Tony Evers’ signature of the state budget:

“I appreciate the Governor’s willingness to approve the legislature’s budget that funds Wisconsin’s priorities. We invested in everything our constituents told us to fund – roads, healthcare, education, broadband and more.

I am happy that most of the funding for local, rural roads, the Rural Broadband Expansion grant program and the Dairy Innovation Hub project were funded. These initiatives, that I led, will have an impact right here in our communities.

Now that the budget has been signed into law, I am looking forward to dedicating more time and attention to finding solutions for rural emergency medical services, water quality, chronic wasting disease, rural broadband expansion and other issues that impact the 17thSenate District.”

Marklein represents the 17th Senate District, which includes all or parts Grant, Green, Iowa, Juneau, Lafayette, Monroe, Richland, Sauk and Vernon counties. Marklein serves on the legislature’s budget-writing Joint Finance Committee and is Chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Revenue & Financial Institutions.
