MADISON – Following Senator Jeff Smith’s (D-Brunswick) inauguration on Monday, January 7th, Smith announced new staff members hired to serve the 31st Senate District and creation of his new legislative social media sites and his state senate website.

“My staff is here to serve citizens of the 31st Senate District by answering questions about state government, helping constituents navigate all the different programs and services and, most of all, they are here to listen and help citizens play an important role in the governing process,” said Smith. “I hope you will join me in offering them a big welcome as they start serving the needs of Western Wisconsin.

Senator Smith’s staff includes Beau Stafford, Chief of Staff; Meghan Sovey, Communications and Policy Specialist; Alyssa Neuser, Outreach Director; and Ann Francis, District Representative. Staff will be serving roughly 175,000 constituents and staffing the Capitol office from 9:00am – 5:00pm, Mondays through Fridays, with the exception of Ann Francis who will be based in the district to assist with all of Senator Smith’s local events.

Senator Jeff Smith also announced new ways to stay informed about what’s happening in the State Legislature by encouraging people to follow him on Facebook at Senator Jeff Smith @sensmithwi, on Twitter @sensmithwi, or on Instagram @sensmithwi. Additionally, for anyone in need of assistance or wants to know more about the services Senator Smith’s office can offer, his website at sensmithwi.com is live and ready for constituents to use.

“More and more people are using digital resources to stay in touch with elected leaders whether at the kitchen table with a laptop or while using smartphones to pass the time,” said Senator Smith. “There is a serious lack of broadband internet throughout the western Wisconsin region, but my hope is to provide updates for people who have the ability to access online information. For those people looking for information offline, we will have a robust effort to reach people by mail, by phone or at the door.”

The 31st Senate District includes all of Buffalo and Pepin counties and portions of Trempealeau, Pierce, Dunn, Eau Claire, Chippewa and Jackson counties.
