Madison, WI- Today, the Wisconsin State Senate ended Governor Evers special session on his gun control agenda. Since Governor Evers calling for a special session, Senator Duey Stroebel has promised to continue to uphold the Second-Amendment and prevent passage of any gun control policies that would undermine law-abiding gun-owners. Now that the special session has concluded, Senator Duey Stroebel has released the following statement:

“Since Governor Evers formal swearing-in as Governor he has made it a priority to undermine the Second-Amendment right of lawful gun-owners. Recently, he mentioned he’s open to mandatory gun buybacks. The Governors’ openness to mandatory buybacks signals his real views and long-term agenda on guns.

The Governor’s proposals are the old cynical political trick, claiming to be “doing something.” In reality, proposals like red-flag laws only weaken the constitutional right to due-process.

During this debate, I’ve heard from my constituents in the 20th Senate District who have asked me to defend their Second-Amendment rights. For as long as I have the honor of representing my district, I will continue to uphold my oath and pledge to protect their rights.”
