MINOCQUA, Wis. — Sen. Tom Tiffany (R–Minocqua) and the state Senate are excited to offer a week-long educational experience for high school juniors and seniors. The Senate Scholar Program is designed to challenge Wisconsin’s best students and provide a hands-on opportunity to learn about Wisconsin state government.

Annalise Callaghan from Northland Pines High School joined Sen. Tom Tiffany during the Wisconsin State Senate Scholar Program in 2018.

Scholars will learn from experts about constituent relations and bill drafting. They will also staff the Senate floor during a legislative session and witness floor debate on legislation. They’ll learn how to draft their own bills and amendments, form a mock committee, and elect committee leadership. Finally, the program concludes with a mock committee hearing.

One student from each Senate district will be chosen to participate in the program in Madison. Applications and more information can be found at www.senatescholar.com. The application deadline is Friday, November 8, 2019.
