MADISON, Wis. – State Rep. Joel Kitchens (R-Sturgeon Bay) has received his Assembly committee appointments for the 2019-2020 legislative session.

In addition to his role as chairman of the Committee on the Environment, Kitchens will continue to serve as vice chairman of the Committee on Education and as a member of the Agriculture, Financial Institutions and Tourism committees.

“I couldn’t be more pleased with my committee appointments,” Kitchens said. “The work that will be done this session in these committees will have a lasting impact on the 1st Assembly District and Wisconsin as a whole, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure we are able to find meaningful solutions to improve our state and make the lives of our citizens better.

“Because we live in the most beautiful area of Wisconsin and our local economy and tourism industry depend on the preservation of our vast natural resources, I will continue to be an unwavering advocate for protecting our clean ground and surface water. We will be faced with many obstacles because of our region’s unique topography, but by working together, we will be able to face and resolve those challenges head on.

“I am also particularly excited to continue to serve as the vice chairman of Assembly Committee on Education. As a father of three and a former school board president, I have been deeply involved for years in helping our children learn and succeed. Whether it be improving school safety measures or updating the state’s complex school funding formula, I am strongly committed to giving our students and future workforce the tools they need to become the best and the brightest.”
