MADISON – Rep. Debra Kolste (D-Janesville) has been reappointed as the ranking minority member on the Assembly Health Committee and will also serve as lead Democrat on the Assembly Transportation Committee and the newly formed Substance Abuse and Prevention Committee.

In addition to these ranking appointments, Kolste was appointed to the Agriculture Committee, Mental Health Committee and the Medicaid Reform and Oversight Committee.

“I am again honored to be the lead Democrat on the Health Committee,’’ Kolste said. “Given my career as a medical technologist, I have a special interest in health issues and my committee assignments reflect this insight and experience. I am pleased to have the opportunity to work on innovative solutions to better the health care system for Wisconsinites.”

Kolste has served on the Transportation Committee the past two legislative sessions and is looking forward to being reappointed given the renewed focus on this issue. “Finding a sustainable source of transportation funding will be a priority for Governor Evers and the legislature this year,” Kolste added. “Elected officials and members of the public agree that we cannot continue to borrow and further delay projects on roads and bridges throughout the state.”

This will be Representative Kolste’s fourth term in the State Assembly. The new legislative session began yesterday, with inauguration.
