Contact: Rep. Jessie Rodriguez
MADISON – Representative Jessie Rodriguez, R-Oak Creek and Assembly Republicans on the Assembly Health Committee voted to approve Assembly Bill 1, legislation that prohibits health insurers from denying coverage to an individual with a preexisting condition.
“Today, we took the first step to following through on our campaign promise to protect those with preexisting conditions by passing this bill out of committee,” said Rodriguez. “Nobody should have to worry about losing coverage due to a preexisting condition.”
The Assembly intends to vote on the legislation when the body convenes on its first legislative session day.
“I look forward to this bill passing on the Assembly floor and I hope Gov. Evers will sign this legislation into law when it arrives on his desk.”
