MADISON, Wis. – State Senator Tom Tiffany (R-Minocqua) released the following statement
after the state senate passed the Middle Class Tax Cut:

“Over the last eight years, we’ve cut taxes over and over again. Yet, revenues continue to
grow, there is a record amount in the rainy day fund, we’ve invested more money into our
priorities, and we have a budget surplus. That is what happens when taxpayers get to keep
more of their hard-earned money,” said Sen. Tiffany.

The Legislative Fiscal Bureau has estimated that the state will have an additional $2.4 billion in revenue over the 2019-21 budget cycle. Assembly Bill 4/Senate Bill 18 provides $340 million in tax relief. Most of the tax cuts benefiting filers making between $30,000 and $100,000. A median income family is estimated to save $310.

Senator Tiffany continued, “The steps we have taken over the last eight years to build a strong economy have allowed us to keep lowering taxes while revenues continue to increase. I am proud to have voted once again to return money back to the taxpayers.”
