WASHINGTON DC – Congressman Mike Gallagher this week sent a letter to Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue urging him to prioritize the implementation of dairy provisions included in the 2018 Farm Bill. Citing the continued loss of dairy farms and deficiencies of previous programs, the letter noted that the bill can provide much needed assistance to dairy farmers.

“Dairy and agriculture are central to our heritage and way of life in northeast Wisconsin,” said Rep. Gallagher. “As historic downturns in milk prices continue to hurt our dairy farmers, we must ensure they have access to critical programs like Dairy Margin Coverage as soon as possible. I urge Secretary Perdue to dedicate all available resources to ensure these dairy programs are swiftly implemented.”
