(Washington, D.C.) – Congressman Glenn Grothman (R-Glenbeulah) today released the following statement on the terror attack that took place in Burkina Faso, where a radical Islamic terrorist open-fired on a Catholic church:

“Over the weekend, a terrorist open-fired upon a Catholic church in Burkina Faso, killing six. This is the country’s second attack in as many weeks. Said Grothman. “My prayers are with the people of Burkina Faso and everyone affected by senseless violence based on religion.

Burkina Faso is, unfortunately, one of the several North African countries being invaded by radical Islamic terrorists. Religious attacks are on the rise worldwide, and in the Middle East and North Africa, Christians are suffering dearly. What’s more, the problem will only worsen when we continue to have governments, like Iran and Sudan, actively villainize and arrest Christians. There is no religious group persecuted in more countries than Christians.

The lack of media attention on these attacks is, frankly, embarrassing. There is clearly a group of people being attacked and oppressed by other groups and governments, but when you turn on the news at night or open the paper, there’s not a word about it. I condemn these attacks in the strongest way possible. I also believe that if journalists truly believe that sunlight is the best disinfectant, then they should focus their attention on these attacks that are taking too many innocent lives.”
