(Washington, D.C.) – Congressman Glenn Grothman (R-Glenbeulah) today released the following statement on the shooting that took place at the Chabad of Poway Synagogue in California:
“It goes without saying that the shooting in the Chabad of Poway Synagogue should be condemned in the strongest possible terms.” Said Grothman. “What makes it particularly scary is that the perpetrator appeared to be completely unlikely to commit such an abhorrent crime. He had no prior record and appeared to be somewhat of a ‘straight arrow’ who was progressing through life quite successfully.
We have seen an increase in violent acts against religious people as of late, and it must stop now. Violent events, like the shooting in Poway, remind us that there is still evil in the world and we must be especially vigilant about defending houses of worship and looking out for hot-beds of anti-Semitism. Hopefully, California will give the maximum penalty as swiftly as possible.”
