Washington, DC—
Last week, Rep. Ron Kind sent a letter on behalf of Wisconsin farmers and families urging Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Chairman Neil Chatterjee to help ensure there is a continuous supply of propane to Wisconsin and throughout the Midwest.

“With a late corn harvest season and cold temperatures and snow spiking in the forecast, propane will be higher in demand than normal. Hundreds of thousands of Wisconsinites rely on propane gas to heat their homes and businesses and operate their farms,” said Rep. Ron Kind.“I appreciate the efforts made by several Midwest governors—particularly Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers—but more must be done. I look forward to hearing from Chairman Chatterjee and working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to ensure folks throughout the Midwest get the propane fuel they need and avoid another severe propane crisis.”

Nearly 250,000 residents and countless businesses throughout Wisconsin rely on propane fuel. Farmers also rely on propane to heat poultry and livestock barns, as well as dry wet corn crops and operate grain elevators. Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers declared an energy emergency in anticipation of high demand.
