Today, the House Judiciary Committee unveiled two articles of impeachment that charge Trump with abuse of power and obstruction of justice. In response, Congresswoman Moore released the following statement:
“Every President takes a sacred oath to protect the country and the interests of the American people. As a Member of Congress, I took a similar oath to support and defend the Constitution. When Trump solicited a foreign government to investigate a political rival for personal and political gain, he violated his oath. The Founding Fathers included mechanisms for presidents who abuse their power. Impeachment is that mechanism. I do not take these actions lightly, but President Trump has left Congress no choice but to move forward with articles of impeachment to uphold the Constitution and protect our democracy.”
