WASHINGTON, D.C.—Bryan Steil released the following statement after the House Steering Committee recommended him to serve on the House Financial Services Committee.
“Whether you are buying a home, starting a small business, or receiving financial aid for school, financial services play an important role in Southeast Wisconsin. On the House Financial Services Committee, I will work to empower communities by strengthening the programs and resources they depend on. Federal over-regulation hinders growth in our communities. As someone who spent ten years in the private sector, specifically in the manufacturing industry, I saw this firsthand and understand the importance of giving job creators the ability to grow and invest in our workforce,” said Steil. “I’ve heard from people across the First District about the importance of increasing access to home loans and helping families struggling with student loan debt. This committee assignment gives me an important opportunity to address these issues. I will work to ensure the American dream is within reach of everyone; in particular, making sure individuals are able to buy their own home. We must continue to invest in Southeast Wisconsin so we can provide higher wages for workers.”
“We are excited to have Bryan recommended to join the Financial Services Committee. As one of only five Republican freshmen recommended to serve on the Committee, Bryan will provide a fresh outlook on pocketbook issues facing families across America,” said Ranking Member Patrick McHenry. “Bryan’s experience in the private sector will help us ensure that the American dream is achievable for families, workers, and entrepreneurs throughout the country.”
Bryan was a member of the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents where he held a leadership role on the Business and Finance Committee. Most recently, Bryan served as an executive at Charter NEX.
