Following Governor Tony Evers’ Executive Order setting a date for the special election to fill the vacancy in the 64th State Assembly District left by Peter Barca, Gina Walkington released the following statement:

“The response I have received from the community so far has been incredible. My team and I have already knocked on hundreds of doors throughout the district, sharing my experience as a mom, activist, and organizer. It’s clear the district is eager to have an advocate in Madison fighting for affordable health coverage, strong unions, a living wage, closing the gender pay gap, and protecting Lake Michigan.

I’m thrilled to already have earned the support of Kenosha County Board Supervisor Andy Berg and Kenosha Common Council Alder Stephanie Kemp, as well as State Representatives Lisa Subeck, Melissa Sargent, Chris Taylor, and Jonathan Brostoff.

With only 47 days until the primary election on April 2nd, there is not a moment to waste. Anyone who wishes to join our team and help achieve the first ever Assembly Democratic caucus that is majority women should sign up at WalkingtonforWisconsin.com.”
