MEQUON, WI – James Wawrzyn announced his candidacy today for the Ozaukee County Circuit Court. Wawrzyn has a unique blend of work in the public and private sector, having worked in all three branches of Wisconsin government and currently working on a diverse mix of corporate and litigation matters as a Shareholder at von Briesen & Roper, s.c.

“I have a deep respect for the critical role that judges play in our society. I am very excited today to announce my candidacy to become the next judge for Ozaukee County,” said Wawrzyn. “Ozaukee County voters have told me that my broad experience in the public and private sector, coupled with my commitment to conservative values, would make me a good fit for Circuit Court Judge of Ozaukee County. I am excited to continue engaging with
more voters and stakeholders in the weeks to come.”

Wawrzyn developed his deep respect for the judiciary in part as law clerk to then-Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Jon P. Wilcox. James Wawrzyn will be an exceptional circuit court judge for Ozaukee County,” said Former Justice Wilcox.

“James is intellectually astute, cherishes the rule of law and is experienced working within the state judiciary as my law clerk and a circuit court law clerk. James also has valuable experience from serving on the Governor’s Law Enforcement and Crime Commission, Juvenile Justice Commission, Pardon Advisory Board and Task Force on Terrorism Preparedness. Residents of Ozaukee County will be well-served by James’ return to work in the public sector.

Wawrzyn worked on the policy staff for Governor Tommy G. Thompson and Governor Scott McCallum, focusing on criminal justice and homeland security policy. Wawrzyn was Committee Clerk to the Wisconsin State Senate Committee on Homeland Security, Veterans and Military Affairs and Government Reform. Wawrzyn worked as law clerk to Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Jon P. Wilcox and Waukesha Circuit Court Judge Lee S. Dreyfus, Jr.

“As residents of Ozaukee County know, we live in an amazing community with dedicated public servants,” said Wawrzyn. “I look forward to again contributing to efficient government operations that fit the needs of the residents, and prioritizes public safety.”

Wawrzyn grew up in the North Shore of Milwaukee, and now lives in Mequon with his wife Val. They have two children, and are fostering a third that they hope to adopt. James attended Marquette University High School, University of Wisconsin-Madison and Marquette Law School.
