Stephanie Bloomingdale, President of the Wisconsin AFL-CIO, released the following statement on Milwaukee being selected to host the 2020 Democratic National Convention (DNC).

“Congratulations to Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, Milwaukee Bucks Vice President Alex Lasry, U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, Gov. Tony Evers, Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, Congresswoman Gwen Moore, and County Executive Chris Abele, co-chairs of the Milwaukee DNC 2020 Host Committee on this achievement,” said Stephanie Bloomingdale, President of the Wisconsin AFL-CIO. “The selection of Milwaukee as the convention site is an acknowledgement of the positive direction in which our city and state are moving. The road to the White House runs through Wisconsin, and as the 2018 election demonstrated, unions remain key to delivering electoral success for working families. We look forward to hosting our union brothers and sisters from across the country, many of whom will be delegates to the DNC. We are confident this event will be an important step toward reclaiming a political process that works for working people. The men and women of the labor movement are ready to do our part to ensure the convention is a success.”
