One-day conference to showcase sustainable transportation, infrastructure, technology and fleet vehicles

MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin Clean Cities is partnering with Alliant Energy and the City of Madison for a first-of-its-kind, one-day sustainable transportation conference and expo May 23 in Madison, the partners announced today.

“We’re excited to co-host the Transportation & Innovation Expo 2019 with our partners Alliant Energy and the City of Madison,” Wisconsin Clean Cities Executive Director Lorrie Lisek said. “Helping fleets reduce emissions and improve their bottom line is what Wisconsin Clean Cities is all about. Whether you are just starting to think about making a change toward cleaner transportation methods or want to add on to your already sustainably fueled or powered fleet, this event will have just what you need to move your plans into action.”

Transportation & Innovation Expo 2019 is set for May 23 at the Exhibition Hall at the Alliant Energy Center, 1919 Alliant Energy Center Way in Madison.

The event will kick off with multiple breakout sessions featuring the industry’s top leaders presenting on a variety of topics to help attendees make the best sustainable transportation choices to meet their needs. Topics range from electric vehicles and their charging infrastructure to an automakers’ roundtable, alternative fuel vehicles and their fueling infrastructure, sustainable options for bus fleets, sustainable medium and heavy duty vehicle and fueling options, innovative technology solutions for fleets and nonroad equipment, case studies from successful projects and funding opportunities.

The massive 70,000-square-foot exhibit hall will feature a variety of exhibitors and indoor vehicle and equipment displays. Attendees will also have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a variety of alternative fuel and electric vehicles during the ride and drive outside the Exhibition Hall.

Among the vehicles and equipment expected are a compressed natural gas snowplow, BCycle electric bicycles, a propane school bus, a Demers ambulance equipped with anti-idling technology, a hybrid electric transit bus, soy-based tires, a Nissan Leaf, a biodiesel-fueled fire truck, a propane-fueled Ford Explorer Police Interceptor, electric motorcycles, a biodiesel-fueled street sweeper, the Honda Insight Hybrid, Tesla Model S, Chevrolet Bolt, GEM e4 electric vehicle, compressed natural gas Ford F150, E85 (ethanol/gasoline blend) Ford F150, Tropos low-speed electric vehicles, JLG all-electric scissor lifts, a compressed natural gas-fueled Dodge Ram, electric fork lifts and much more.

The event is open to the public, with special discounted rates available for fleet managers and students. Registration includes breakout sessions, continental breakfast, lunch, refreshments, access to exhibit booths and vehicle/equipment displays and the ride and drive. Registration must be complete by May 20.

Exhibit space, vehicle/equipment displays and multiple sponsorship opportunities are also available.

Now in its 25th year, Wisconsin Clean Cities is a nonprofit organization serving the entire state of Wisconsin and is one of nearly 100 U.S. Department of Energy Clean Cities coalitions. The coalitions partner with members in the public, private and nonprofit sectors to promote energy security through the use of sustainable domestic fuels and technologies, thereby improving air quality and supporting local jobs and the economy.
