Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), chairman of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, sent a letter Wednesday to Attorney General William Barr and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray seeking answers to long-outstanding questions highlighted in a recently refiled lawsuit by investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson. Rep. Darling: Bills continue Wisconsin’s fight against addiction

Madison – Wisconsin continues to lead in fighting opioid addiction. On Wednesday, two bills part of the Heroin, Opiate, Prevention, and Education (HOPE) Agenda, authored by State Senator Alberta Darling received public hearings in committees in both the Senate and Assembly. Senator Darling authored Senate Bill 591 with State Representative John Nygren of Marinette to help create a stable work environment for people going through addiction treatment. Under the bill, state employees can’t be penalized for undergoing addiction treatment. The bill also requires the Department of Health Services to create a list of eligible housing for people recovering from addiction. Senator Darling

Hansen won’t seek reelection to Senate seat

Dem state Sen. Dave Hansen announced today that he will not seek reelection this fall. Hansen 72, has regularly outperformed the top of the ticket since he was first elected to the Green Bay-area district in 2000, and his retirement improves GOP chances of winning the seat. Republicans head into the fall elections with a 19-14 majority.
