Stephanie Bloomingdale, President of the Wisconsin AFL-CIO released the following statement, thanking Senator Mark Miller for fighting for union families while in office.

“Senator Mark Miller has been a steadfast advocate for the rights of working people in Wisconsin. Workers will never forget that as Minority Leader during the Act 10 protests, Senator Miller fought tirelessly to protect collective bargaining freedoms in Wisconsin as a leader of the “Fab 14.”

Senator Miller’s record speaks for itself. After 22 years in office, Senator Miller will leave the Wisconsin legislature with a Wisconsin AFL-CIO working families lifetime voting record of 98% in the Senate, and 100% in the Assembly. Time and time again, Senator Miller has stood on the side of justice for working people, voting to advance economic opportunity for all.

Senator Miller is a true friend to me and to the entire labor movement. Over the years, we have had many occasions to work closely together to advance the rights of working people in Wisconsin and help hardworking people have a better shot at the middle class.  From protecting nurses and healthcare professionals from mandatory overtime to fighting for a clean environment and ensuring working people have safe workplaces and fair wages so they can come home safely from work to be with family, Senator Miller was always on the right side of history.

It has been a true pleasure to work with Senator Miller, an elected representative for the people, that workers can always count on to stand up in the face of adversity, even in the toughest of times to fiercely protect the rights and freedoms of working people. We wish him the best as he embarks on his retirement.”
