Yesterday, Wisconsin Todos Con Biden kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month with the launch of “Nuestros Negocios, Nuestro Futuro” with Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García and Wisconsin Latino small business owners. “Nuestros Negocios, Nuestro Futuro” is a coalition of Latino small business owners who will work together to register Latino voters in their local communities.
At the event, Latino small business owners discussed how Joe Biden’s plan to “Build Back Better” will help small businesses advance racial equity as part of our nation’s economic recovery, and how the coalition will work to ensure customers have access to resources and information they need to register to vote and cast their ballots.
Wisconsin small business owners who joined the program included Darryl Morin, President & CEO of Advanced Wireless, Inc. in Milwaukee, and Gloria Reyes, owner of Reyes Public Safety in Madison.
“Donald Trump chose to downplay the virus instead of tell the truth. The crisis that we’re in is because Trump did not act…Unlike Donald Trump, Joe Biden has a plan to take advice from scientists and to build our economy back better than before. He has always told us the truth and he knows and shares our values as a community,” said Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García.
“My business has been impacted significantly due to COVID, along with many of our small businesses across the country and in Wisconsin…This all could have been avoided if we had a leader who listened to health experts at the early stages of the COVID pandemic…Biden has a plan. Joe knows that small businesses, including Latino owned small businesses, need to prominently be situated in our recovery… We need leadership now, and Biden’s administration will help us through these difficult times,” said Gloria Reyes.
“Many Latino small businesses are being forced to close their doors for good. And not because they weren’t willing to work hard enough, not because they made poor business decisions. No, they’re being forced to close for good, simply because of the poor leadership that’s coming out of this White House…It is for the lack of a plan that I come out today and announce that I am supporting Joe Biden for President and Kamala Harris for Vice President…They realize that Latino small businesses are the economic engine that will create generational wealth in our community and grow our economy nationwide,” said Darryl Morin.
