To kick off the tour, Senator Tammy Baldwin, Congressman Ron Kind, State Senator Patty Schachtner, and State Assembly Candidate Brad Pfaff will speak to Western Wisconsinites about how Joe Biden will help families who have been left behind by trade wars and tax policies that benefit the wealthy over workers. They will also hear from Wisconsinites with pre-existing conditions, who stand to lose critical protections if the Supreme Court overturns the Affordable Care Act.
Compared to January 2017, over 150,000 fewer Wisconsinites are employed including 7,000 fewer workers in the La Crosse and Eau Claire regions. Following devastating and unnecessary trade retaliation, Wisconsin led the country in farm bankruptcies in 2019, losing 10% of its dairy farms. As temporary layoffs become permanent job losses, Wisconsin families are bearing the brunt of this pandemic.
“On the debate stage last week, Joe Biden spoke directly to the American people, told them he understands their fears and anxieties, and reassured them that he has a plan for a brighter future,” said Biden for President Wisconsin State Director Danielle Melfi. “Now we’ll be taking this same message on the road and directly to the people of Wisconsin: Joe Biden will be in your corner, not Wall Street’s.”
The event will be the first of a series focused on Joe Biden’s plan to create millions of good-paying jobs and to give Wisconsin’s working families the tools, choices, and freedom they need to build back better out of these crises. The tour will also highlight his commitment to protect and expand access to affordable health care for all Americans, including protections for the 2.4 million Wisconsinites with pre-existing conditions. These plans and more will put money back in the pockets of working families in the Badger State.
