Yesterday, Joe Biden released a comprehensive plan to rebuild our supply chain, create American manufacturing jobs, and ensure that the U.S. does not face shortages of critical medical supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE) in the future. Donald Trump’s failed leadership left our medical supply chain vulnerable – relying on foreign countries for PPE, which left states to fend for themselves and health care workers without the critical supplies they needed to keep themselves and patients safe.
“Joe Biden has put out a comprehensive plan to combat Covid-19 and ensure PPE’s and testing supplies for our country,” said Congressman Mark Pocan. “Anyone who needs a test should be able to get one, so that we can stop the spread of this disease. That requires a national strategy and the supplies to get it done. Unfortunately, that’s not where we are months after this crisis began in this country. We need leadership desperately right now. I wish we had as decisive leadership from Donald Trump. If we had, tens of thousands of people would be alive today.”
“Joe Biden understands that a secure supply chain that does not rely on foreign countries is critical to a strong health care system, both in and out of a pandemic,” said Kevin Conroy, CEO of Exact Sciences. “I’m proud that our company, in partnership with other Wisconsin companies, has been able to stand up a COVID-19 test that has helped to make and deliver more than half of all testing in Wisconsin – and we need leadership at the federal level that will strengthen our supply chain and create more good-paying jobs here at home.”
“We applaud Joe Biden for releasing a comprehensive plan that will grow our manufacturing industry and puts American workers first,” said Stephanie Bloomingdale, President of the Wisconsin AFL-CIO. “When American workers needed PPE to keep us safe in this COVID-19 crisis, Donald Trump’s caving to big business and outsourcing corporations left us in the lurch. Biden’s plan would create jobs in Wisconsin and bring back local control of our economy. There’s only one candidate in this race who truly has the backs of Wisconsin workers – and that’s Joe Biden.”
