On Tuesday, November 24, President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris will announce their nominees and appointees to key national security and foreign policy posts. President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris have chosen experienced, crisis-tested leaders who are ready to hit the ground running on day one. These officials will start working immediately to rebuild our institutions, renew and reimagine American leadership to keep Americans safe at home and abroad, and address the defining challenges of our time — from infectious disease, to terrorism, nuclear proliferation, cyber threats, and climate change.

President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris have announced their intention to nominate or appoint:

  • Antony Blinken, Secretary of State
  • Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security
  • Avril Haines, Director of National Intelligence
  • Linda Thomas-Greenfield, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations
  • Jake Sullivan, National Security Advisor
  • John Kerry, Special Presidential Envoy for Climate
