Blacks for Political and Social Action of Dane County, Inc. (BPSADC, Inc.) endorses Amani Latimer Burris for State Senate, District 26, in the Democratic primary on August 11.

BPSADC, Inc, is an organization of community leaders and citizens who have joined together to speak in a concerted and united voice on important issues.  Several of the leaders and members in the organization have worked on issues that affect the Black community and all communities at-large, under several administrations, without regard to political affiliation, social status or organizational affiliation.

BPSADC. Inc. is led by Assistant District Attorney, David Hart, President. Board members include Kirbie Mack, Community Activist, Civil Rights Leader, and former Top Government Official; Ray Allen, Publisher of the Madison Times, former School Board Member, and former Official in the Administration of Governor Tommy Thompson; and Theresa Sanders, mother of Henry Sanders, publisher of Madison365.

Latimer Burris, 51, who has been endorsed by Mayor Paul Soglin, Madison School Board President Gloria Reyes, and Alder Barbara Harrington-McKinney, is making her first run for elective office. A life-long educator and former small business owner, she started out her career as a journalist.  Most recently she worked for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin as an Organizer in Waukesha and Milwaukee Counties, where she worked to help get Justice Jill Karofsky elected.  In June, she left this position to run for State Senate.  If elected Latimer Burris would be the first African-American and woman elected to the Wisconsin State Senate from Madison.
