The Congressional Leadership Fund, the chief super PAC for House Republicans, announced a $2 million TV and digital ad buy targeting U.S. Rep. Ron Kind, D-La Crosse.

The buy, which will run in the La Crosse and Wausau markets, is the first significant outside help for Republican Derrick Van Orden in the general election.

The narrator in the ad calls Van Orden “a patriot, not a politician,” recounting the Republican’s time as a Navy Seal. The narrator also adds Van Orden answers “when duty calls.”

The spot then knocks Kind after almost 25 years in Washington, D.C., saying he has missed 138 votes in the last 2.5 years.

“He’s become just another liberal career politician failing to do his duty,” the narrator says.
